Alan Robert Sumner (1911 - 1994) was an Australian artist who was skilled in painting, printmaking, teaching, and stained glass designing. He studied at Melbourne's National Gallery Art School and the George Bell School, and also spent time studying in Paris and London. Sumner worked as a stained-glass designer for over fifteen years. He applied a post-impressionist style in his stained-glass designs and screen printing. Sumner's work was exhibited in various galleries across Australia. Later in life, Sumner was recognized for his work in Classical Modernism at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1992.
