Rodney Armour Milgate (1934 – 2014) was an Australian painter, playwright, and former newsreader on Channel 7. Born in Kyogle, New South Wales, Milgate was recognized as one of Australia's most influential artists in the 1960s and 1970s. He received numerous awards, including the Blake Prize for Religious Art three times, and his work is represented in major collections worldwide. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Milgate wrote the play "A Refined Look at Existence which reworked Euripides" The Bacchae into an ironic comedy-drama set in a NSW country town. Milgate retired to the Central Coast and passed away on 19 September 2014.
